Overview

The Biotechnology Application Centre have been striving continuously to bring the best results to the state and its people, to preserve biological diversity, improve local skills and to improve and standardize the quality of locally produced products. This will facilitate to make quality assured and value added products. Keeping in view the broad objectives laid down by the Govt. of Madhya Pradesh to achieve its main aims that is improvement in the quality of life of people, increased production and employment besides encouraging possibilities of self employment through institutional finance. The Biotechnology Application Centre has put in much efforts and is still craving hard to further enhance its activities in the days to come.
Being a very rich territory in terms of forest and minerals, the state of Madhya Pradesh is essentially an agricultural state with abundance of bio-diversity and availability of water area. Which is available for fisheries development. Madhya Pradesh ranks third in terms of water area available in various states. In terms of inland fish production its position is tenth. Bio-tech based sectors offer extensive scope in the light of abundance of rich natural resource in Madhya Pradesh.
Scientific knowledge of the living world has grown tremendously particularly in the past fifty years or so. A great deal is revealed about the structure and function of the living cells, how they retain and transmit genetic information and how they respond to chemical and physical changes. Globally Biotechnology is playing a significant role in using natural products sextalk . book rock of ages show . where to buy testosterone trust . site english milfs in leggings just try for developing new marketable processes and products which can increase production and support sustainable and eco friendly technologies. As we understand genetically engineered plants can help in increasing yields and provide disease resistant crops.
Tissue Culture helps in producing large number of plants of desired uniform quality. Tissue culture of teak for example is of great relevance for this state. By this Bio-technique large number of quality assured plant lets can be made available for afforestation of degraded wastelands. Bio-fertilizers and biopesticides not only help in increasing agricultural production but also help in reducing pollution.
Bio- technology Application Centre has been formulating and implementing application oriented research and development programme of the commercially viable potential technologies. The centre is in the process of co-ordinating and promoting technology development at different levels. Some of the simple technologies are being applied for tribal and rural areas besides advanced technologies with support of financial institutions are being taken up by unemployed educated youth.
At the same time export oriented hi-tech systems and technologies are being taken up by industries. Concrete efforts are being made to formulate plans through which biotech products and process move from research laboratory to the concerned people, farmers, entrepreneurs and industry.
Biotechnology Application Centre under Madhya Pradesh Council of Science & Technology is also conducting development programmes in the fields of medicinal and aromatic plants, forest biomass, pisciculture (including fresh water prawn culture), agriculture, horticulture (including floriculture and mushroom cultivation), post harvest technology, medical biotechnology and environmental biotechnology.
