Telescope making workshop

The recent advances in Science and Technology Astronomy and Space science are playing a vital role to change the lifestyle of common man. These new branches are part of Hi-Tech systems and need generation of interest in education at an early age. Therefore laptop power . kinderfietsen the school and college students must be introduced to observe distinct objects in sky and space including stars and the movements of planets. The use of telescope is an introduction for young students to study the challenge of universe. MPCST has organised two weeks training programme on telescope making in Dec. 1998 at Bhopal. The main objective is to popularise Astronomy among the students of M. P. and to develop interest and confidence amongst school children and teachers in the emerging areas of Science. The workshop has been supported by NCSTC (DST) New Delhi.

 

For this workshop 13 teams of Science students of 9th and 10th standard with teachers have been selected. Each team consisted of two students and a teacher . The expert from B. M. Birla Planetarium Jaipur (Rajasthan) have been called for this training programme. Each team prepared a telescope under the guidance of experts. After fabrication of telescope they were gifted to the school. MPCST has given Ist and IInd prize to the best teams. Special prize were been given to students by the experts.

A book "Durbin se Bramhand Ka Parichay" in Hindi has been released by the Principal Secretary, Science and Technology Govt. of M.P. These books were distributed among the participants. The book contains different aspect of astronomy.
